Service Description
This three-evening workshop is a great way to loosen up your approach to art, learn new techniques with a variety of materials and create some unusual, expressive art. When we make art, we’re accustomed to control over our subject, materials, and results, but these lessons intend to help us relinquish control while still learning the basic elements of design and how to use them. You’ll be introduced to imaginative, inventive processes used by Surrealists and well-known artists such as Max Ernst and Remedios Varo. You may invent your own intuitive, spontaneous methods! We'll try several experimental drawing techniques with charcoal, conte, pastel, or paint and combine them as we progress. We may work large, with either model or photo resources. Drawing experience is helpful but is not necessary. All you need is a willingness to try new things and have some fun! Students need to bring a phone with camera and wear old clothes. Objectives: -Be able to use different techniques and materials to loosen up future creative work. -Identify the main elements of design and how to use them. -Utilize different methods of evaluating art. -Identify a few artists who have used non-traditional techniques.
