Beginning Pastels

Service Description

Start the new year with a cool new art experience! This one-day workshop is a great beginning to the “pure pigment” medium and will load you up with information about this richly colored painting material. You’ll learn simple methods of painting, varieties of pastels, helpful resources, and special techniques. Relax and enjoy the morning demonstration, then create your own painting in during a 3 ½ hr. studio time. Meredith will offer plenty of personal instruction throughout the day. You can bring photos as resources, and Meredith will provide some too. We’ll conclude with an informal review of what we’ve learned as well as information about framing and matting your finished work. Most students take home finished artwork from this workshop. The class is designed for beginners - you don’t have to have ANY art experience! Even if you've already tried pastels, you're still welcome to join, especially if it’s been a while since you’ve used this medium. Register early since class size is limited. A supply list will be provided to all those registered. Plan to spend anywhere from 50 to $100 depending on the quality of pastels you purchase. Please bring $10 for UArt sanded paper which will be provided at the class.
