About the event
Mapping Memory Through Abstracted Landscape is a hands-on workshop led by Bryn Du’s artist-in-residence, Erin Treacy. Participants are invited to bring photographs of two or more meaningful places connected to personal memory, emotion, or identity. Using transparent acetate, these images are layered and combined to create a composite “map” that visually explores how memories overlap and interact.
From this composite image, participants will isolate forms, lines, and textures to develop an abstracted landscape painting. Rather than focusing on realism, the workshop emphasizes emotional resonance, intuition, and personal interpretation. This process-based experience is suitable for all skill levels and offers a reflective, creative approach to translating memory into visual form.
This event is free and open to the public thanks to our partners at the Granville Community Foundation.
