Painting Animal Portraits in Pastel

Service Description

Just in time to make something very special for the holidays, this class will help you create a unique and personal portrait of your favorite animal, wild or domestic, in pastel. Meredith will demonstrate her own approach to portraiture, which relies on training the eye and utilizing the same design principles she uses in all paintings. No grids, tracings, or projectors will be involved. Using soft pastels, pastel pencils, and some drawing materials, you will practice seeing accurate proportions and values, create fur and furry highlights, paint sharp eyes, and choose good backgrounds. You’ll also get some tips on doing commissioned work as an artist. Bring a clear, 8 X 10 photo of your subject. Supply list will be provided upon registration.
