Limiting the palette helps quiet the noise and focus on the rhythm and energy behind each mark. We’ll explore contrast, repetition, rhythm, and flow to create abstract compositions full of movement and personality. Perhaps you will discover the types of marks that you are most drawn to. No experience needed. This class is perfect for artists, writers, doodlers, and anyone looking to shake off perfectionism and reconnect with their creative spark. And bonus: studies have shown that engaging in artistic play can boost mental clarity, improve mood, and even support overall brain health. Come curious. Leave with a stack of experiments, maybe a favorite new tool, and a fresh sense of what’s possible when we approach the blank page with "what if" instead of the desire for things to look a certain way. Materials Provided by Instructor: Paints, brushes, pens, markers, and etc. Material List for Student: A sketchbook with watercolor quality paper or a stack of watercolor papers approximately 8.5" x 11" The size is that important but err on the side of working larger rather than smaller. If you have a particular medium or mark making tool that you love or want to experiment with, feel free to bring that as well.
