Our Spaces

The Mansion

The Federal style sandstone mansion, circa 1905, features the modern conveniences of Wi-Fi and easy to use catering kitchen. Hand crafted wood paneling detail the West and East wings and the formal dining room. Handicapped accessible with spacious front and rear patios.

The Field House

The Field House at Bryn Du built in the mid 1990's has 7,200 square feet on its main level, a beautiful balcony area and expansive wooden cathedral ceiling. The Bryn Du Field House also has two spacious outdoor patio areas. The Field House is an ideal facility for tradeshows, sports functions, weddings and other community events.

The Carriage House

Renovated in 2014 this 1,200 square foot Arts & Craft style space offers two rooms of distinct charm best suited for rehearsal dinners, meetings, small parties, and other community events. Complete with kitchen, wi-fi and projection screen.

The Art Center

Originally the power house housing the generators for the farm, today the Art Center offers art Classes for all ages.

The Cramer House for Artists in Residence

This quaint building known as the Cramer House was the former laundry house that has been converted into a unique apartment and studio for our Artist-In-Residence program.  The building provided a solid base for repurposing, and many original architectural details were maintained. It now boasts it's own cottage like living spaces as well as a studio area for the artist to work.

The Spring House

Formerly the Spring House, now a working "green room" support facility for performers. This space is complete with a community amphitheater and stage for community concerts and other outdoor performances.

The Historic Barn

The great white barn that has graced the Bryn Du Estate for the last century used to house prize winning horses belonging Sallie Jones Sexton of the Jones family, former owners of the estate.

Today it is home to the new Bryn Du Quilt Barn Square. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Bryn Du Art Show in 2019, visitors to the show helped paint the square together as a community. Various quilt barn square patterns were merged to create one very special square representing the past, present and future of Bryn Du and the local community. The Ohio star anchors the pattern with its red, white and blue colors. A variation of the wedding ring pattern graces the corners of the square to represent the couples who have chosen to begin their married lives at Bryn Du. The green and charcoal railroad pattern represents the John Sutphin Jones family, long-time owners of the Mansion, who made their fortune from railroads and coal. The green color itself highlights the past farmland of Bryn Du and the current Great Lawn. In the center of the square visitors will find the school house quilt pattern representing Granville's core roots in education. Finally, the school house is surrounded by a paint palette to represent Bryn Du's dedication to arts and culture in our community. The palette paint colors themselves highlight each of the local schools (blue: Granville Exempted School District, purple: Granville Christian Academy, green: Welsh Hills School, red: Denison University). The square can be found on the East side of our large historic white barn towards the back of the Bryn Du property.

Thank you to the Granville Community Foundation for their grant toward replacement of 15 of the barn's 34 windows in 2021!

The Great Lawn

The Great Lawn at Bryn Du is 32 acres of open, level field spreading southward from the mansion. This space is currently home to many area athletic teams and sporting events including Sunday afternoon polo.

The Formal Garden

Bryn Du's Formal Garden redesign began in 2009 as part of the Bryn Du Commission's Master Plan. It is comprised of Green Mountain Boxwood on it's north and western perimeters, Oak Leaf Hydrangea at the north and southern entrances, and pink Spirea on the eastern perimeter wall. Inside in the late spring the entire garden bursts to life with pink Peonies. The fountain garden area is home to the lion head spigot spewing water into a large stone bowl surrounded by a variety of Daffodils in the spring and Autumn Joy Sedums in the fall. The southern end hides a secret garden through the arch covered in Clematis and Trumpet Vine.  Hardy Crane's bill, Pachychandra, and yellow Epimedium round out most of the plantings in this lovely almost secluded space.

  • The Formal Garden is available for ceremonies when the Mansion is booked in conjunction.

The Prairie Garden

In 2018 in partnership with the Granville Garden Club, the former estate tennis courts developed by Dave Longaberger in the 1990s started their evolution into what will become a unique prairie garden. Complete with a wide variety of native plants the Garden Club has also contributed funds for the installation of stone walkways that radiate out from the center where the original two-story gazebo dominates the garden. The space is a work in progress currently but will be another quiet respite from the rest of the world for gardeners and nature lovers upon it's completion.

  • This space is not available for rental at this time. Merely enjoyment.

The Gardener's Cottage

The Gardener's Cottage was the original Carriage House on the estate before the days of motorcars. When Mr. Jones bought the property in 1905 he ushered in a new era of transportation, being known as one of the first in Granville to have one of the new motorcars available to the wealthy. With his new acquisition, he built a new Carriage House or Garage to house it in the late teens. So the older carriage house is now home to implements to care for the gardens here on the estate.

  • This space is not available for rental at this time. Merely useful.
